Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Translate, transpose and review the translation of diverse texts from English into Arabic and vice versa, including:
Content for the ROAS website e.g. stories, press releases;
Social media posts;
Subtitles for audiovisual materials;
ROAS reports, strategic documents, and minutes of the meeting.
Contribute to the expansion of ROAS Arabic-language lexicons, through the identification and documentation of translations for new and emerging terminology;
Support the use of UN Women’s gender-inclusive language guidance and lexicon;
Any other related tasks as directed.
Job Requirements
University studies in one of the following disciplines: Translation or Mass Communications, Communication, Linguistics, Journalism, Political Science, or other relevant subjects is required;
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation
or Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program which is part of a degree programme and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements.
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in Arabic and English are required;
Working knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
