Job Description
To provide the highest standard of evidence based telemedicine medical management advice for gate screening, on board screening and in flight medical assistance and emergencies of Emirates Airline passengers. To provide the highest standard of telemedicine evidence based medical management advice to outstation based Emirates Airline flight deck and cabin crew.
Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Provide appropriate telephone based medical advice and recommendations for passengers pre-departure. This includes gate screening and on board pre departure assessments and recommendation of fitness to travel.
Provide appropriate telephone based, telemedicine supported medical advice and recommendations for passengers in flight, supporting the cabin crew in their in-flight management of medical concerns and emergencies
Provide appropriate telephone based, telemedicine supported medical advice and recommendations for passengers in flight, supporting the Captain and Network Control in decisions around diversions for life threatening conditions and situations.
Provide appropriate telephone based medical advice and recommendations for Flight Deck and Cabin Crew outstation. This will include case management with outstation hospitals and medical providers including assessment of fitness to fly to return to base either operating or as a passenger.
Participate in specific medical education programmes as required, including to meet operational and service needs, and / or for developmental purposes.
Maintain all licences required to meet the regulatory requirements of the DHA to operate as a licenced Doctor. This includes but is not limited to meeting stipulated continuing medical education (CME) requirements.
Job Requirements
MBBS or equivalent medical degree
Minimum 5 years post qualification clinical experience in primary care and/or emergency medicine
Membership of a suitable Post Graduate College preferred
Aviation Medicine preferred
Telemedicine experience preferred
Current medical registration with a recognised medical board or council is required along with qualifications and minimum experience acceptable to the DHA for registration and licensing
Excellent verbal communication skills
Complex problem solving and timely decision making
Ability to work as part of a high performing team
Understanding and experience of clinical risk management
