Support the delivery of analytical projects, providing analytical and programming expertise to source and translate data into meaningful insights that lead to cost reduction and/or revenue generating ideas & actions. A passion for using data to drive business decision making.
Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Develop our understanding of B2B booking trends, applying your experience of analytical techniques to identify what a general Commercial Analyst cannot see
Development, testing & implementation of machine learning models to support pricing optimisation of the B2B sales channel
General analysis of business areas such as sales (all channels), marketing and operations as required
Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques
Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner
Creating automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of its performance
Some of the problems the data science team works on are: dynamic pricing optimisation, customer propensity modelling, operational forecasting. This role will require exceptional communication ability as you work across the business with technical & business peers alike. You will be presenting to the business up to senior management, so skill & experience in presentation with a professional acumen is necessary.
The ideal candidate is innovative, detail-oriented, result-focused, has a solid quantitative background, business savvy, and takes full ownership of their work from the inception of the idea to the implementation of the final product. We are looking for both high skilled and experienced candidates who can bring their expertise to bear, or those who are perhaps less advanced on their data science journey and looking for a world class environment to grow in.
Job Requirements
Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, or Engineering
Experience in the travel industry is an advantage, but not mandatory
2+ years experience in data mining, predictive modeling, time series analysis, machine learning, transformation and cleaning of both structured and unstructured data
Proficiency and demonstrated experience in at least 2 of the following: SQL, R, Python, Alteryx, Spark, Hive, RapidMiner (or other similar product)
Demonstrated experience with business intelligence and visualization tools (Sisense Tableau, MicroStrategy, Qlik)
Experience creating meaningful data visualisations using any visualisation tool that communicates your findings
Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
Experience developing pricing optimisation models
Demonstrable logical, creative and analytical thinking skills
Industry leading numeracy / analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
