ALEXBANK is currently recruiting for the role of Senior Database Administrator
Duties and Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:
Implement, setup and configure new databases servers and troubleshoot database issues regarding data replication, backup, partitions, storage, parameters and access to assure standard performance and fast query responses to 'front-end' users around the clock.
Participate in planning, setup and implementation of data synchronization across development, test and production environments as well as evaluating possible/needed system upgrades and enhancements to improve the service availability and performance.
Maintain database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions of the data dictionary ('metadata').
Control Databases access permissions and privileges to ensure database integrity and security.
Perform database environment cloning and Perform data cleansing and migration
Develop, manage and test backup and recovery activities/processes
Work closely with other ICT teams in evaluating current systems and making decisions on future development.
Conduct post major incident reviews and identify and manage follow-up actions whenever required.
Manage own work to ensure that responses to internal customers’ requirements are within timescales stated in Service Level Agreements
Maintain confidentiality regarding the information being processed, stored or accessed, and become familiar with ICT and Information Security policies.
Provide on-the-job training to new ICT team members.
Act as ‘Duty Officer’ on a weekly rotating on-call roll, who will be assigned many small to medium operational tasks such as database monitoring, initial troubleshooting, and emergency responses.
Other duties as assigned by the line management.
Job Requirements
A university degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of experience in Information Technology and databases administrations.
Experience with banking industry systems is desirable, but not mandatory.
Broad technical understanding of data management platforms (e.g., IBM DB2, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, etc.) and associated data security controls.Good understanding of security principles including logical access controls, change control, least privilege, segregation of duties, computer operations, network security, vulnerability management, and secure coding.
Experience in Oracle 11g/12c, DataGuard, ASM, Exadata Administration (Nice to Have) and Microsoft SQL Administration are mandatory and good knowledge in MySQL and DB2 will add value.
OCA (Oracle Certified Association) and OCP (Oracle Certified Professional) are mandatory.
