Al-Mansour Automotive, part of the Mansour Group, is an importer and car dealer located in Alexandria, Egypt.
Al-Mansour Automotive was founded by Lotfi Mansour in 1975. The current company owners are the brothers Youssef Mansour and Yasseen Mansour. Yasseen is the former Egyptian minister of transport. Since its founding, Al-Mansour Automotive has worked together with General Motors and is today regarded as a local general importer.
Eight years after the company was founded, it opened a joint venture with General Motors. In this joint-venture, the firm manufactured cars, trucks and pickups for the markets of Egypt and the Middle East. A plant was built which was part of GM. The plant staff was provided by Al-Mansour Automotive.
Al-Mansour is the main shareholder and the official owner of the plant, but GM reserves certain rights, part of a separately negotiated contract. The joint venture company operates under the name General Motors Egypt S.A.E. and is located in Cairo.
In addition to the Egyptian domestic market, the company also has influence in the United Arab Emirates, Ghana, Kenya and the Russian Federation. In these countries, there are contracts with large companies like McDonald's, Caterpillar, Kraft Foods and several other companies. These firms are supplied by the Al-Mansour Automotive Company with appropriate refrigerated trucks. Ten percent of the company is owned by the General Motors Company.
